The emblematic skyrunning event, organized by the MadTeam Hiking Club, features four renovated circuits for all categories, with departure and arrival at the Ripolla mountain station, managed by Ferrocarrils.
This benchmark race in the Pyrenees offers a high mountain challenge without asphalt, with unevenness and height, culminating at the summit of Bastiments and promising strong emotions.
Vallter, a mountain resort managed by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC), is hosting this Sunday, September 7, one of the most anticipated events on the summer mountain race calendar: the Marrana Skyrace, a race that this year reaches its 13th edition and that acquires special relevance by being integrated into the Catalan Mountain Race Cup of the Federació d'Entitats Excursionistes de Catalunya (FEEC), which consolidates it as a benchmark event on the Catalan circuit.
Vallter, committed to sport and the territory
Vallter, as a high mountain resort committed to sport and the territory, has been a fundamental pillar in the organization of the La Marrana race. The resort not only provides its facilities and logistical resources, but also works side by side with the organizers to guarantee a unique experience for participants.
The route, which runs through emblematic places such as the Morens glacial cirque and the slopes of Bastiments, offers a spectacular natural setting that reflects the uniqueness of Vallter. This involvement reaffirms the resort's commitment to promoting mountain sports and preserving its privileged environment within the Capçaleres del Ter i del Freser Natural Park.
Four competitive circuits
Organized by the MadTeam Hiking Club, the Marrana Skyrace presents four competitive circuits designed to adapt to different categories and levels, all of them with a start and finish at the same Vallter resort in Ripoll. The star route, the Volta de Gegant, maintains its highly demanding character for experienced runners, with a 24.5-kilometer route and a positive elevation gain of 1,900 meters, culminating at the summit of Bastiments (2,881 m).
In addition to the main event, the circuits for the lower categories have been adjusted: the Circ de Morens will be the stage for the junior race (13 kilometers), while the Passeig de les Marmotes will host the youth race (11 kilometers). As a novelty, the 8-kilometer Mirador de Bacivers circuit has been added, specially designed for the cadet category. The popular Passeig de les Marmotes will also maintain its popular walking format, which will allow everyone to enjoy the surroundings in a more relaxed way.
The Marrana Skyrace is characterized by its high gradient, the altitude of the race and the particularity of not having asphalt throughout its route, which is why it offers an authentic and immersive skyrunning experience in the high mountain landscape. The sports day promises strong emotions and the opportunity to enjoy an incomparable natural environment.
