From August 1st to 3rd, the resort will welcome 420 riders from 27 countries, in an event that combines competition, entertainment and activities for all audiences.

The village located in the arrival area with food trucks, haimes, pump track, live music and preferential access to services, will turn La Molina into a party open to everyone.

La Molina, a mountain resort managed by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC), is all set to be the epicentre of European cycling from 1 to 3 August with the 2025 European Downhill Mountain Bike Championship, an event that will bring together 420 riders from 27 countries, 24 of which will be represented by official delegations and 3 individually, divided into the Elite, Youth, Master and Junior categories. The best riders will compete in the most important continental battle on the calendar, where the European Champion jersey will be awarded in a competition that will send the adrenaline of the DHI to all fans. European riders are among the best in the world. In fact, seven of the top ten in the world rankings are European.

The La Comella circuit, which recently hosted the Spanish and Catalan Downhill Championships, will also be the stage for the European Championship. The route is 2.3 kilometres long and has a vertical drop of 411 metres; a demanding descent that combines jumps, bends with bank and a succession of challenges that will test the skills of the competitors.

Activities

But beyond the high level of sport, the event will offer a wide range of activities open to the public and designed for all visitor profiles. During the three days, the village will be open continuously from 8am to 8pm with catering areas (foodtrucks), shaded and rest areas (haimes), a children's pumptrack and other recreational activities. This space will be the meeting point for participants, fans, families and tourists who want to experience the atmosphere of the championships from the inside.

The opening ceremony will take place on Friday 1 August at 6.45pm, after the riders have completed the last training descent of the day. From here, the weekend will gain intensity, both in terms of sports and entertainment. On Saturday, August 2nd at 5 pm, the Tribute to the Catalan DH Riders will take place, followed by the Estrella Damm concert with “El Kiwi” at 5:30 pm, and the DJ session with Uri Moner at 6:30 pm, also sponsored by Estrella Damm. All of these activities will be free and accessible to visitors.

Access and services

The public will also be able to follow the downhill competition from different points set up along the Comella DH circuit. To facilitate the experience, La Molina offers a reduced-fare ride ticket to access the Cap de Comella chairlift (for pedestrians only) of €12 for adults and €6 for children aged 4 to 11.

For those who go by bike, the chairlift will be for exclusive use by registered bikers, but the Cadí-Moixeró Cable Car will operate normally and will allow access to the Bike Park to all cyclists who wish to do so with the usual services of the station. Therefore, the rest of the Bike Park will remain fully operational for the public, with more than 45 km of open circuits, bike rental, family activities and catering service. The self-service in the Telecabina building will also be available on all three days, from 8 am to 5 pm.

Finally, the day of the Championships will end with the closing ceremony scheduled for Sunday, August 3 from 4 pm, once the races have finished and the podiums of all categories have been awarded.

The Government of Spain and the Generalitat de Catalunya lead the institutional support of these championships. The Consejo Superior de Deportes (CSD), a body dependent on the Ministry of Education, Professional Training and Sports, and the Departament d'Esports and Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) agree that the organization of the European Championships will strengthen the positioning of Spain and Catalonia as ideal places for practicing BTT and as a reference destination in cycling and mountain sports.
