With this car, called Torgo, non-existent on the market and manufactured exclusively for FGC, the resort offers the Ecovall Discovery Route to explore the different places in the area.

The Torgo is part of the new features of the season at the Ripolla mountain station, along with the opening, for the first time in summer, of the Telecadira la Pala.

The new exhibition dedicated to photographer Toni Anguera, closely linked to Vall de Núria, is also inaugurated.

Vall de Núria, a mountain resort managed by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC), Saturday, July 12, launched the Torgo, the first fully electric 4x4 vehicle, not yet available on the market and manufactured exclusively for FGC. This vehicle, with which visitors can discover magnificent places in the valley, together with the launch of the Telecadira la Pala for the first time in the summer, are part of the new features of the season in Vall de Núria. Today, the seasonal exhibition dedicated to photographer Toni Anguera, who is closely linked to the mountain resort, was also inaugurated.

The president of Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC), Carles Ruiz Novella, presented the new vehicle that is starting activities in Vall de Núria, accompanied by the mayor of Queralbs, Immaculada Constans Ruiz, the resort manager, Toni Casals Picola, and the Technical Director of FGC Turisme, Xavier Perpinyà Colomer.

Ruiz highlighted Ferrocarrils' commitment to innovation with this "first and only electric vehicle in the world, with great power and which will be useful in many mountain resorts". Ruiz reminded the Nurias that Vall de Núria has two values: "spirituality and landscape, with the access by cogwheel which is what gives it even more value. We have to think about how we maintain these values and how we project to the world everything that has made Vall de Núria great".

Discover the Valley with El Torgo
From today, El Torgo offers all visitors to Vall de Núria the Ecovall Discovery Route, with which they are invited to explore the different places in the area and to learn first-hand about the Ecovall project, with which Vall de Núria wants to become a benchmark in responsible environmental management.

This innovative vehicle offers convenience and comfort to users due to the arrangement and type of seats as well as access to its interior, with wide doors that open vertically. The main characteristics are:

  1. 9 seats (including the driver)
  2. 4,700 kg
  3. 2 engines, 1 per axle
  4. Maximum power 350 kW (476 HP)
  5. 40% gradient
  6. 100 km range

The Torgo offers a zero-emissions experience and maximum adventure, combining performance, sustainability and technology in a privileged natural environment surrounded by peaks of almost 3,000 meters. Departures will be 45 minutes (at 3 p.m., 4 p.m. and 5 p.m.) and are available on weekends in July; daily from July 28 to September 1, and on September 6, 7, 11, 12, 13 and 14.

In addition to the activities, the Torgo is also designed to improve communications in Vall de Núria since it will also be able to transport clients to the Albergue when weather conditions do not allow the operation of the Cable Car, both in summer and winter.

Chairlift rides
Another of the great attractions that is being launched today is the Telecadira la Pala, which opens for the first time in summer. This lift, with a 10-minute ascent, brings hikers closer to different peaks and mountain circuits. During the ascent, you can enjoy a unique panorama of the Alpine landscape and it will facilitate the discovery of native fauna, such as chamois and marmots.

Once at the top, you can start several routes such as the Mirador de les 7 valls (10 minutes, 70 m of elevation gain), the Pic de l'Àliga (30 minutes, 160 m of elevation gain), the Pic de Fontnegra (1h 30 min, 468 m of elevation gain) or the Pic de Torreneules (1h 30 min, 450 m of elevation gain), among others. The Telecadira la Pala will operate on weekends in July, daily from 28 July to 1 September, and on 6, 7, 11, 12, 13 and 14 September, from 10 am to 2 pm.

The photographic legacy of Toni Anguera

Today, the new temporary anthological exhibition by photographer Toni Anguera, Xato, entitled “Vall de Núria a través de la mirada de Toni Anguera” was also inaugurated. This exhibition brings together a selection of images captured by Anguera during 62 years of contact with the valley. The snapshots reflect the landscape, faith (with the Sanctuary and the Mare de Déu de Núria) and the Rack Railway, as well as textures and interactive elements that reveal his artistic sensibility.

Activities for the whole family
In addition to these new features and the unmissable experience of traveling with the Rack Railway of Núria, the Ripollès resort offers a wide range of activities designed for the whole family in summer. From a ride on the Coma del Clot cable car, which allows access to the Alberg from Pic de l'Àliga, to hiking, orienteering circuits, yoga sessions in the meadow or stargazing at the Montsec Astronomical Park.

In the Leisure Park, a space designed exclusively for the enjoyment of young and old, fun is guaranteed with activities such as mountain karts, balance games, the popular tubbing and trampoline jumping, among others. In addition, visitors can enjoy a 10-hole minigolf course integrated into nature, exciting boat rides on the Vall de Núria lake and interesting exhibitions that complement the day.

For an even more enriching experience, Vall de Núria organizes a varied program of family activities every week such as, for example, creative workshops of all kinds. Among the most unique experiences, the possibility of boarding the emblematic Swiss vintage cars MGB (Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn) stands out. These vehicles, built in 1963 and which used to transport passengers to the Alpine town of Zermatt, offer a journey back in time and a unique perspective of the valley. This exclusive experience can be enjoyed every Saturday and Sunday until September 14.

Vall de Núria also offers experiences of dissemination and protection of the Ter and Freser Headwaters Natural Park with new initiatives for visitors. At the arrival of the Rack Railway, there is a permanent information point for the park open all year round during weekends and holidays, and daily from July 25 to September 7. As a novelty, this summer a new itinerant information service is being incorporated, which will be operational on weekends and holidays from June until July 25 and from September 11 to November 1. The service will be daily between July 26 and September 10. The informants guarantee a good welcome, highlight the natural and cultural values of the park, explain the restrictions for good conservation of the environment and provide informative material to promote a responsible and minimal impact visit.
