Ferrocarrils opens the summer season with more than 90 days of nature activities, gastronomy and high-level competitions

FGC's tourist facilities will offer nearly 100 km of hiking and trail running routes, 56 sports and nature activities, 13 downhill circuits, 23 children's activities, 12 catering points and rides on 7 ski lifts.

 

The proposal is designed for all audiences and with a diversified offer to offer an active and accessible destination 365 days a year.

Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) has today presented the range of activities for this summer at the mountain resorts, which will be opening progressively from this coming weekend. The 2025 season is synonymous with nature and outdoor activities where visitors will be able to enjoy a total of 97.45 kilometres of marked routes for hiking and trail running. La Molina offers 10 itineraries with a total of 21.74 km, Vall de Núria has 12 walking routes (16.05 km) and 3 trail running routes (12.61 km), Vallter has 7 itineraries totalling 36.94 km, and Boí Taüll has 6 routes with a total of 22.728 km. The offer also includes 56 sports and nature activities, 13 bike circuits, 23 children's activities and 12 catering points, among others.


La Molina will open its season this weekend, June 14 and 15, with daily opening from June 21 to September 7, and weekends until October 5. Vall de Núria, which is open all year round, combines the experience of the Cremallera with a wide range of family activities this summer. Boí Taüll will kick off the summer on June 21 and will be open until August 31. And Vallter will start its summer season on June 28 and will run until August 31. Espot and Port Ainé, which do not open in the summer, are collaborating in the tourist promotion of the area, which offers a multitude of activities for all audiences.

 

FGC's tourist facilities are a clear reflection of the commitment to deseasonalize and diversify the offer. The main objective is for mountain resorts to be an active and accessible destination 365 days a year, offering a wide range of activities, from competitive sports to nature and cultural experiences. A commitment that is also closely related to the commitment to sustainability, quality and continuous improvement of services and facilities, fundamental axes to ensure that visitors can enjoy the Pyrenean environment in a responsible manner.

 

The president of Ferrocarrils, Carles Ruiz Novella, has highlighted that the summer season "is a reflection of the transformation of ski resorts into mountain resorts with activity 365 days a year, with dual infrastructures that can operate in summer and winter". Ruiz has highlighted the main strength of FGC resorts: "Their diversity, which allows us to offer differentiated products in each of them". The president of FGC has highlighted that the aim is to double the almost 200,000 visitors of last year's summer. "We must take advantage of the potential of our mountain resorts as a gateway to nature".

La Molina is full of new features to offer an unforgettable summer experience. For cycling lovers, the resort will become the epicentre of downhill, hosting the Catalonian and Spanish DH Championships on 18, 19 and 20 July, and the great European DH Championship on 1, 2 and 3 August, a double event not to be missed for fans. To complete the cycling experience, the Bike Park is opening a new circuit called Comella DH in the TSD area. Cap de Comella, expanding the offer for the most demanding riders.

 

In terms of gastronomic offerings, visitors can enjoy the new Xiringuito del Llac, a restaurant with privileged views of La Molina Lake. For those looking to connect with nature, new itineraries have been designed to discover the surroundings on foot, by mountain bike and ebike, adapting to all rhythms. In addition, guided forest baths are incorporated, a sensory experience designed to relax body and mind among fir trees and pines. Finally, La Molina is launching Metapark, an innovative proposal for the Fauna Route that offers an immersive hiking experience with augmented reality, allowing you to discover the Pyrenean fauna in an interactive way.

 

Vall de Núria is presenting a range of new features that reinforce its commitment to sustainability and improving the visitor experience. You can discover the Ecovall project and its different places through the Ecovall Discovery Route, which is being launched with the first 100% electric 4x4 vehicle, the TORGO. In addition, you can enjoy unparalleled panoramic views from the new viewpoint of the Vall de Núria lake, designed to spread the landscape and natural values ​​of the environment. To allow visitors to admire the beauty of the valley from multiple perspectives, a new 360º panoramic webcam has been installed.

 

Another of the outstanding proposals is the launch of the Telecadira de la Pala, a 15-minute panoramic chairlift that brings hikers closer to mountain peaks and circuits. From this point, several routes begin, such as the Mirador de l'Olla, Set Valls and Pic de l'Àliga, among others.

 

Vallter is coming up with exciting new features that will enrich the mountain experience, with the whole family and nature lovers in mind. For the little ones, an electric motorbike circuit has been opened designed for boys and girls aged 3 to 10, with two age categories and easy-to-drive motorbikes, guaranteeing safe fun with the assistance of the resort staff.

 

The gastronomic offer is also renewed with the Braseria Les Marmotes, which now offers breakfasts with spectacular views, ideal for starting the day with energy.

 

In addition, Vallter is reinforcing its commitment to the natural environment with the opening of a new information point for the Capçaleres del Ter i del Freser Natural Park at the base of the resort, complementing the one already in Vall de Núria, and adding the presence of itinerant informants throughout the summer to answer questions and make the park's wealth known.

 

Boí Taüll presents exciting new features, expanding its range of activities and services. One of the great attractions is the new 200-meter zip line at the base of the resort, which with its double carriage will allow simultaneous descents for shared fun.

 

For the first time, the resort is launching a passenger lift, the Telecadira Vaques, which will operate from mid-July until the end of the season. This installation, with a 20-minute ride, will bring visitors closer to spectacular views of the peaks of the Alt Pirineu and will offer the possibility of a pleasant walk down to the base. Complementing this experience, a new viewpoint has been created at the base of the resort, ideal for enjoying the landscape.

 

In addition, Boí Taüll is committed to connecting with nature and astronomy, organizing astronomical observation sessions in collaboration with the National Park and the Montsec Astronomical Park on August 1 and 16 respectively, and a guided hiking trip to Cap de Vaques on August 13, allowing visitors to explore the beauty of the National Park.

 

A summer on rails

The summer offer of Ferrocarrils is complemented by the experiences offered by tourist transport. Under the Turistren brand, they are operational throughout the summer season to discover the interior of Catalonia:

 

The Montserrat Rack Railway and Funiculars, in Bages, allow sustainable access to the Montserrat Mountain Natural Park, where you can take hiking routes, visit museum spaces and the Basilica. This year, 24 new chargers for electric vehicles have been put into service in the Monistrol Vila car park.

 

The Núria Rack Railway, in Ripollès, is the only means of transport to access Vall de Núria. It covers 12.5 km with a difference in altitude of 1,000 metres on a journey of more than 90 years, offering spectacular views.

 

The Tren del Ciment, in Alt Berguedà, maintains its route from the old Asland cement factory (now the Cement Museum) in Castellar de n'Hug to Guardiola de Berguedà, with stops at the Artigas Gardens of Gaudí and La Pobla de Lillet. This train offers service until November 2. One of the main innovations is the commissioning of 4 charging points for electric vehicles in the La Pobla de Lillet car park.

 

The Tren dels Llacs, in Lleida, runs from La Plana to the Pre-Pyrenees, offering landscapes of mountains, bridges, tunnels and gorges, either with the Historical Train or the Panoramic Train. This season will run until October 25 with 23 Historical Train and 4 Panoramic Train services. As a novelty, this year it includes an on-board guide explaining the history and route of this FGC tourist train.

 

And the Tren Granota, declared a Cultural Asset of General Interest, will run between Les Planes and the Sabadell and Terrassa stations until December, on Sundays September 7, October 5, November 2 and December 7.

 

The most important astronomy facility in Catalonia

Finally, the Parc Astronòmic del Montsec, located in Àger (Noguera), also has important news regarding sky observation activities as it has incorporated three new portable telescopes to reinforce activities during family night visits. In addition, before the end of the year it will launch the first radio telescope, which will allow observing bright objects such as the Sun during cloudy times.

 

The Astronomic, a world-renowned center for the dissemination of astronomy, is celebrating this season the 15th edition of the "Music under the Stars" cycle, from June 22 to November 15, which combines a visit to the park with musical performances by Catalan artists in an unparalleled setting under the night sky.
