With this alliance, FGC and the shipping company will promote winter getaways among Balearic residents to the six Catalan ski and mountain resorts through a combined boat and ski pass package.
Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) and Baleària have renewed the agreement to facilitate that residents of the Balearic Islands can ski this coming winter season at the six ski and mountain resorts managed by FGC in the Pyrenees: La Molina, Vall de Núria, Vallter, Espot, Port Ainé and Boí Taüll. Through this alliance, the two companies collaborate and promote mountain tourism in Catalonia among the island public through a combined ferry and ski pass package. The renewal of the agreement was made public yesterday at an event at the Club Nàutic de Palma where the Director of Business and Strategy of FGC Turisme, Enric Serra Teixidor, and Laura Sánchez, Baleària’s sales manager for Catalonia, participated.
The agreement, which was first launched in January of this year, consists of a collaboration agreement to offer a joint package that includes the boat ticket and a 20% discount on the ski pass for any of Ferrocarrils' six mountain resorts. As a notable novelty, FGC and Baleària are incorporating for the first time the marketing of the combined boat + ski pass product through travel agencies, thus facilitating the contracting of the complete package. In addition, this year the minimum number of ski pass days required to access the discount for individual customers who directly contract the package has been reduced: it goes from four to three days, with a 20% bonus. This improvement aims to increase the attractiveness of the offer and encourage ski getaways during holidays and public holidays for residents of the Balearic Islands.
Serra highlighted that with this agreement “Ferrocarrils opens its resorts to skiers from the Islands but also offers them the opportunity to discover the Pyrenees, its gastronomy and culture, through the range of activities offered by the ski resorts and also by the surrounding area”. “Our resorts are gateways to natural spaces of great value that we must promote both in winter and summer”, he added.
On behalf of Baleària, Laura Sánchez highlighted that “this agreement highlights the added value that the company offers to Balearic residents, who thanks to a wide range of ferry and fast ferry connections can make the most of their time to make getaways to Catalan ski resorts at any time of the year”. “Baleària’s commitment to the sustainability of its fleet, as well as innovation and digitalisation on board, make each crossing part of the travel experience”, added the sales manager for Catalonia at Baleària.Ferrocarrils manages six mountain resorts in the Catalan Pyrenees that offer a total of 180 ski slopes, 189 km of skiable terrain and 54 ski lifts. FGC has almost 50,000 accommodation spaces near the resorts, both its own and those in its area of influence, and a wide range of leisure and gastronomic activities.
Baleària connects the Balearic Islands with Barcelona throughout the year with ferry services from Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza, and with a fast ferry that connects Alcúdia and Ciutadella with the Catalan capital in a journey of around three and a half hours.
