Under the leadership of the Loser Surfers organization, the initiative has the support of the Alt Pirineu Natural Park, the Aigüestortes and Estany de Sant Maurici National Park, and the collaboration of the Espot Esquí and Port Ainé ski and mountain resorts.

The FGC TURISME resorts in the Pallars Sobirà region reaffirm their environmental commitment, focusing waste collection in parking lots and accesses to maximize the visual and ecological impact.

The mountain resorts of Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) Espot Esquí and Port Ainé in the region of the Pallars Sobirà reaffirm their firm commitment to preserving the natural environment once again this weekend with the launch of the fifth edition of the Mountain Calling.

This initiative, led by the local organization Loser Surfers, the Alt Pirineu Natural Park and the Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park, has as its main objective to collect waste and raise awareness about the importance of keeping mountain environments clean and healthy for everyone. The actions will take place in Port Ainé on Saturday 27 and in Espot Esquí on Sunday 28 September.

This year, the cleaning will focus specifically on the parking areas and accesses of both resorts. This strategic decision responds to the detection of a greater accumulation of waste by users at these points, which thus allows for a more efficient management of resources and a more direct impact on the visual and environmental improvement of the main entry points to these tourist facilities.

For all those who visit the two ski resorts and the two parks throughout the year, participating in Mountain Calling is a good way to contribute to offsetting the ecological footprint they generate during their tourist visit. A footprint that they can calculate through the Gratitud Pallars platform, and thus contribute to the regenerative tourism promoted by the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism of the Alt Pirineu (CETS).

The four previous editions of Mountain Calling have demonstrated the effectiveness and importance of this initiative. In the first three, more than 200 volunteers joined the project and a total of 2,000 kilos of waste were collected. The fourth edition collected 850 kg of trash, of which 300 kg was scrap metal; 50 kg, wood; 100 kg, glass and 400 kg of waste. These figures reinforce the need to continue with the cleaning work and, above all, to raise public awareness for a more sustainable Pyrenees.
