From February 8 to 13, 2022, the Boí Taüll resort will be the setting for the ISMF European Championships Skimo, a competition that becomes the most important on the international skimo calendar of the season.
The ISMF European Championships Skimo, organized by FGC and the International Cross-Country Skiing Federation, will feature more than fifteen participating countries that will meet in Boí Taüll for 5 days to compete in the sprint, vertical, individual and relays.
This is a sporting event that will mark a before and after: it will help position the resort internationally as a high-level destination. In addition, for the territory it represents a recognition and for Boí Taüll to be a very versatile resort and advanced in time, especially if we take into account that downhill skiing will be Olympic in Milano-Cortina 2026.
During the competition days, the circuits will be carefully prepared before each competition. Beyond the sports field, a wide range of activities will also be organized, such as the opening ceremony with a presentation show, the award ceremony, the management of participants and the technical team, the closing ceremony for the organization, etc.
Boí Taüll, an ideal station for international appointments
Boí Taüll is presented as the best option to host this competition, as it has all the services needed to host an event of this size. Its location, great height and orientation guarantee the best conditions. The morphology of its ski area makes it ideal for hosting major sporting events. An unbeatable situation that, at the same time, has the great involvement of volunteers: many of them have also moved from other parts of Catalonia to put their bit in the development of the competition.
Four competitions, three of them Olympic
Boí Taüll has experience in organizing high-level alpine skiing competitions, as in three years it has hosted two editions of the Spanish Downhill Skiing Championships. Events that have gained the trust of the different federations responsible for this sports specialty.
Of the four competitions that will be held in Boí Taüll, three of them will be the ones that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has decided to be part of the Olympic Games: sprint, individual and relays. All this means that the tests of the European Championships are already in Olympic format.
