The summer season coincides with the start of the "Vallter takes care of the mountains" campaign.
Vallter will begin the summer season this Saturday, July 16 and will be open daily until September 11. The resort of Ripollès mountain offers the essential ingredients to live a unique experience in the middle of nature, in an environment surrounded by peaks that exceed 2,800 m altitude.
Among the main family activities, the panoramic walk in the Jordi Pujol Planella chairlift stands out, which brings visitors up to 2,535 m from Marmotes and allows you to visit the source of the river Ter and reach the "Mirador de la Costa Brava", from where you can observe the beaches of the Gulf of Roses on sunny days as well as other parts of the Catalan territory such as Ripollès, La Garrotxa or Pla de l'Estany. In addition, the station has three signposted routes for family audiences. People who have purchased a ticket for the chairlift will be given a hiking map and the little ones a set of paint tracks.
Vallter is also the gateway to the Natural Park of the Capçaleres del Ter and Freser, around the enclaves of Núria and Ulldeter, with an area of 14,750 hectares, distributed between the municipalities of Planoles, Queralbs, Ribes de Freser , Pardines, Vilallonga de Ter, Setcases and Molló, all in Ripollès.
The practice of hiking and trail running is guaranteed with the possibility of climbing to such emblematic peaks as the Pic de Bastiments (2,881m), El Gra de Fajol (2,714m) or the Pic de la Dona (2,702), between d others.
Road cycling is one of the great attractions of the resort, which offers the option of touring this first-class mountain port considered the cycling roof of Catalonia and which connects Vallter with the town of Setcases in 12 kilometers and about 1,000 meters of elevation gain. A stage that has been part of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya on six occasions and will be the final stage of the 102nd edition, which will take place from 20 to 26 March 2023. In addition, during the summer you can participate in the challenge 'Vallter time trial, the roof of Catalonia' energized through the club of FGC Tourism in Strava and win different prizes.
On Sunday 28 August, Vallter will host the tenth edition of the Marrana SkyRace, the traditional mountain race that this year will have two routes: the Volta del Gegant, 23 km long and 1,900 meters high; and the Circus of Morens, of 11 km and with 1,100 meters of difference of level.
The resort maintains the advance sale system for this season, which allows you to purchase the electronic ticket to access the Jordi Pujol Planella Chairlift through the online shop without having to go through the box office and top up the PiriNeu365 card if purchased previously during the winter. In addition, the ticket will also allow access to the automatic machine located next to the information point.
Actions to respect the natural environment
In line with the FGC Turisme Policy, the resort is launching the Vallter cares for the mountain campaign, which will take the form of various actions and measures such as the distribution of compostable rubbish bags so that people who buy a ticket from the chairlift can deposit their rubbish. generate during their stay; the selective collection of waste around the Morens service building (2,150m), with the increase in the number of recycling bins; and the delivery of eco-friendly ashtrays for the recycling of butts.
In collaboration with the Capçaleres del Ter and El Freser Natural Park, this summer the channels and banks of the Morens torrent will be cleaned and both signage and protection elements for the mountain spur, a plant, will be installed. native. In addition, the station will have two exhibitions: one dedicated to the Pyrenean flora of the FloraLab project, made up of 11 canvases exhibited on the El Pícnic solarium terrace; and the other of Arqueorutes by the Natural Park, exhibited in the Cafeteria La Portella.
