From 18 to 24 March 2024, the historic Volta Ciclista a Catalunya will be held, which this year will celebrate its 103rd edition, with 25 participating teams. Once again this year, spectators will be thrilled by the excitement of this great competition that crosses the Catalan territory. A sporting and visual spectacle to be experienced with all five senses.

The excitement of the Tour of the High Mountains will be repeated in Vallter and moved to Port Ainé, which will take over from the resort of La Molina, which hosted the 102nd edition, passing through the FGC Turisme resorts on 19 and 20 March respectively. Two of the stages of this high mountain sporting spectacle will feature the resorts of Vallter and Port Ainé. Vallter has a historic route, where it was first run in 1986 and since then it has hosted 7 stages. The latter has been the finish of a stage of the Volta 3 times since it was first reached in 2013.

The finish of the second stage 2024, which will be held on Tuesday 19 March, will be in the Ripollès resort of Vallter with the first category pass that becomes the cycling roof of Catalonia with a finish at 2,150 metres and 11.2km in length with an average gradient of 7.6% and maximum gradients of 18%. On Wednesday 20th, when the third stage will be held, it will be the turn of the resort of Port Ainé in Pallars, which will host a stage finish for the fourth time. On a colossal climb: a pass of 18.5km in distance, with an average gradient of 6.8% and maximum gradients of up to 15%.

With the hosting of the Volta stages, FGC reaffirms its commitment to promoting competitive sports and offering good experiences in the high mountains. Ferrocarrils is committed season after season to disseminating and popularising sports in the heart of nature, a commitment it has maintained as a hallmark of its own identity. It also shows Ferrocarrils' desire to boost the economy of the area, bearing in mind that the passage of the competition through the resorts of Vallter and Port Ainé will have a positive impact, not only on the resorts but also on the surrounding area. It must be understood that activities such as this help to contribute to the economy and promote tourism in the Pyrenees.
